You work with amazing and intelligent people in your company who are experts in different fields such as IT, customer service, and sales. They have ample experience in each category that is a gold mine of information to share with others. These colleagues can share their stories about what common problems customers face and what the best solutions are to solving those problems if you just ask the right questions. Do some research before your interview on each person and their industry of work. Create some initial questions to get the conversation going but do not be afraid to take the conversation in different directions if something sparks your interest that is said by your interviewee. After conducting your interview, there are several different formats you can experiment with to share your new findings.

  • Webinar: These are great live events to engage your audience with your in-house expert. Schedule a webinar with your colleague weeks in advance to brainstorm ideas for what the session will focus on. Give your colleague a preview of some of the questions you will be asking to ease any nerves he or she may have about the interview. Be sure to encourage interaction from your audience so it is not a formal presentation and a conversation is developed.
  • Blog post: After conducting your interview, simply write a transcript of what transpired and post to your blog about it. All it takes is a couple of minutes to write down what was said in your interview and share great insight into a certain industry or function. This allows you to rank higher on search engine results from new content and generate more traffic for your website.
  • Podcast: Podcasts are becoming extremely popular for consumers to listen to in the car on their way to work or when they are on the treadmill at the gym. All you have to do is record our interview to create an audio file for your podcast. Consumers also really enjoy series so you may want to tape several interviews before posting your podcasts.
  • Email: While many marketers believe email is dying, the facts about email marketing do not coincide with that belief. Email is still one of the most effective ways to turn potential customers into real customers. Alert your email list that a webinar is coming up and consistently remind them beforehand to drive engagement. You should also follow-up with those who attended the webinar after to receive feedback for future endeavors.
  • Video: Live record your interview to allow consumers to watch it instead of listening. YouTube and Facebook are becoming increasingly popular formats to create and share videos with users. To make it a little more interesting, you may even want to record users asking questions and your in-house expert answering them. This will create more engagement with these users and prevent it from being a typical presentation.
  • Social Media: These interviews are bound to create great quotes to tweet about or post to your Facebook wall. Make sure users know about the interview so they can post the information on their own news feeds for even more sharing.

From just one interview you have the ability to create at least five content formats to share for a great marketing campaign. You do not need the big bucks to generate a big return on something as simple as an interview. What other content formats can you create from an interview?
