7 Rules for Success in Content Marketing

Beginning the transition to create a content marketing strategy can be difficult, especially if you have no prior experience with generating content. Each and every company is unique in which types of content are necessary to attract new readers and potential customers. That being said, there are a few essential rules you can utilize to be successful in content marketing.

7-Rules-for-Success-in-Content-Marketing-ContentBacon1. Reuse content

Constantly thinking of new topics for pieces of content can be a tiring process. To avoid this situation, reuse the content you already have and repurpose it into other forms. If you created an eBook, that content can easily be turned into a blog post, infographic, or video. Be creative with the different ways you can use the content at your disposal and don’t ever let any content go to waste by only utilizing it once.

2. Insert pictures

Pictures garner way more attention than plain text – they add an aesthetic appeal and break up rather long text. There are plenty of websites to receive free pictures from that will catch your readers’ eye. Pictures are what make social media outlets such as Instagram and Pinterest so popular. Don’t overlook this minor detail that can have a major impact on your content.

3. Be unique

When your audience is inundated with content, your content needs to be able to stand out in the crowd. Share your opinion, display the personalities of your employees, or take a stand on a controversial topic. Whatever you may chose to do, ensure that your content is unique and different from all of the other content that is also being produced.

4. Stay consistent

Your audience is your audience because they enjoy the content you post and expect to see new content posted when they check. Staying consistent with your content postings doesn’t mean that you have to post to your blog every day. Instead, you need to maintain consistency for when you post – whether that is twice a week or every Monday. If your audience checks your site for new content and none has been posted, they will surely turn to your closest competitor for what they’re looking for.

5. Skip perfection

Content is meant to provide entertainment, relay knowledge, and convey emotions. As such, content is made for people by people. When creating content, don’t worry too much about the sentence structure or grammar. Instead, produce content that you believe you would enjoy and go from there.

6. Go mobile

Now more than ever consumers are engaging with content on their mobile devices rather than desktops or laptops. Knowing this, it’s imperative that your site is responsive on mobile. Consumers will only get frustrated with your business if they can’t easily navigate your site on their mobile device.

7. Be social

A huge part of content marketing is being social, which includes social media outlets that are only applications on mobile devices (Snapchat, Instagram, etc.). When it comes to social media, you don’t have to use every outlet. Experiment with a few and determine which outlets your audience is and begin engaging with consumers there.

Content marketing is difficult to manage and keep track of. As long as you maintain a consistent schedule for posting and creating content you’ll be on the right track to developing your own strategy. Do you know of any other essential rules for content marketing success?
