The end of 2014 is coming and a new year means a new beginning. It’s an opportunity to make each day more meaningful. We’ve compiled a list of tricks you can use to make your workday healthier and more efficient.

1. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day

You’ve heard this one before and this is because it’s imperative to your stamina for the day. Having a bowl of sugary cereal won’t suffice anymore. To have a productive workday, start it right with foods that will keep you energized. Try oatmeal with bananas or even make a smoothie when you’re on the go!

Sitting at a desk all day is terrible for your body and your mindset. Moving around can be as little as a five-minute lap around your office or making a phone call outside. Try to get out of that chair, even if it means doing work standing up.

3. Be social

We know work is a time for work and there are tasks you must complete at the end of each day. However, having some friendly faces around the office can relieve some of the stress that work brings on. This doesn’t mean taking constant breaks to go gossip with your coworker. It does mean creating relationships that prove to be beneficial to your health and productivity.

4. Get exercise

Exercising weekly is vital to anyone’s health. It keeps you energized and is another great way to relieve some of the stress from work. It’s hard to fit exercise into your busy schedule and we know that. Even if it’s just for 20 minutes a day or opting to walk instead of taking the bus, any physical activity can help improve your workday.

5. Don’t forget you’re human

At the end of the day, you’re only human. No matter how many papers you have to read through or clients you have to contact, you can’t do everything in one workday. Take the time to go home, rejuvenate and be ready to work again the next day. If you don’t take some time to yourself, work may consume you.
