With content marketing, it can be easy to lose sight of why you’re blogging, posting to social media, or writing an eBook. We’re here to remind you that it’s about telling the story of your brand and relaying your values to your customer. In order to communicate this, there are some guidelines your company must follow. We’ve gone over these before, but here are some reminders about content marketing you should keep in mind.
1. Remember the “why”
When telling a story, customers want to know less about what you’re doing or how you’re doing it and more about why you’re doing what you’re doing. It’s once you can communicate the why that you can develop your brand story.
2. Remember to be fearless
Don’t let content marketing be pushed aside by other marketing efforts. Your story, told through content marketing, should be at the heart of your marketing strategy. Go full force with communicating your story through all of the channels you can.
3. Remember to think of the customer
In content marketing, it’s not just about your brand and your story. It’s also about the customer and what he or she wants from your business. Check that your story and content aligns with your customers’ values and desires.
4. Remember to be social
You already know customers want to be noticed and thought of, but this also includes making sure you’re interacting with them as well. Reply to their comments, tweet at them; show them that you’ve noticed their efforts to be interested in your business.
5. Remember to share your content
Even if you’re content is great, if you don’t share your content, it will not achieve the greatness it deserves. You can’t just blog on your website and hope that’s enough to gain readers. Post your blog on social media and email it out to customers. Make sure people know about the content you’re generating.
We hope these reminders will help you get back to the roots of your content marketing efforts. Remember why you’re involved in content marketing in the first place and it will be a success!
