4 Ways To Do the Most With Your Time

We all have crazy, hectic schedules. Even when we spend hours completing one assignment, five more accumulate on our desks and it never seems to end. We love our jobs but sometimes they can get in the way of us developing a healthy work-life balance. To make sure that work is still enjoyable, follow these four ways to do the most with your time.

4 Ways to do the most with your time ContentBacon1. Create task time

While writing that blog post due at noon, you are thinking about responding to an email or calling your doctor for an appointment. In the clutter of everything you have to do, things get missed and assignments get half-done because of losing focus. Create “task time” and block out an hour of each day so you can respond to emails and take care of personal items. Now these tasks won’t nag you throughout the day because you know you can get them done during that task time.

2. Delegate when possible

You don’t have to do everything on your own. As a business owner, you can delegate tasks to other people on your team so all of the pressure is not put on you. When you hire the right people, there is no need for you to individually contribute so much. This not only makes your life easier but it also shows your team that you trust them with important assignments. Some people on your team may even have more expertise in a given area to create a more comprehensive final deliverable. Outsource and delegate when possible so you don’t overwhelm yourself.

3. Strategize the future

Maximize the time of each day by strategizing the future. Plan ahead of time so that each hour of your week is spent being productive and you may even see your days becoming shorter. Take the time to delegate which meetings are absolutely crucial that you attend and which ones you can send a delegate to. Only carving out an hour of your week to look over such things can give you a return of five more hours each week to spend on tasks that lend you more productivity.

4. You are important

Do not forget to take care of yourself and remember that you are important. This is just like on an airplane when you are told to put on your own oxygen mask before helping others. Exercise, eat healthy, and get plenty of sleep. Do not let the work and assignments consume you so much that you forget to take care of yourself. It’s important to take a break from technology and read a book or take your kids to the park every once in awhile. Maintaining mental and physical health is more imperative than the accumulated assignments on your desk.

In the midst of meetings and assignments, a lot of us allow the little things to get in the way of us being productive. As a business owner, you have the ability to delegate tasks to others and spend a little time each week to plan ahead so you are not overwhelmed. Take the hour to focus on yourself so you can do the most with your time and have a productive workweek.
